Value Added and Finishing Facility

Line 0 Matic :
This equipment is required for specific jobs related to ruling in notebooks and answer sheets etc. The envisaged equipment has a capacity of about 4 tonne of paper ruled per 8 hour shift. Paper costing about Rs.45 per kg of about 58-60 gsm is expected to be typically lined. The operating expense of such equipment may be typically viewed in terms of ink and rubber plates. Typically, about 4 plates are believed to be required per month costing about Rs.4000 each that may be sourced from the NCR.

Automatic Paper Folding Machine :
The cost of such automatic equipment is Rs.25, 00,000 with capacity (for 60 gsm paper and 28x40" size) for four fold of 32 pages is 8000 sheets per hour. Speed, in fact, increases with gsm (gramage) due to better stiffness of paper. This equipment is beyond the resource capabilities of typical micro-enterprises in the cluster and is important to secure some large volume jobs.

Thread sewing Machine : The equipment is for sewing of books, journals, diaries etc. which has a large number of pages as typical wire stitching cannot undertake such jobs.

Perfect Binder :
The envisaged capacity of such equipment is 500 book/diary (13" length x1" thickness) per hour. Such equipment requires adhesives in terms of spine and side glue. It facilitates binding quality without manual gluing operations and produces quality hard binding of text books etc. Presently cluster firms are largely in to manually binding operations.

High speed off-line 3 Knife trimmer :
This equipment is related to the perfect binder activity and cuts 3 sides in one pass/shot of a book/ journal which is a critical necessity for some jobs. The envisaged equipment has maximum book size of 17" x 12" and minimum of 3" x 2 75" with speed of 20 cycles per minute. Also, this equipment will also facilitate catering to large volume consumers including material published under govt. programme leaving mini market segment out of the ambit of cluster firms.

Fully Automatic Cutting machine :
For labels of labels, visiting cards, and high capacity jobs requiring .001 mm accuracy (e.g., pharma labels), there is need for fully automatic machines. The envisaged equipment has operating capacity of 20 cuts per minute or 1200 cuts per hour for 18x23 label sheets with 60 labels); 50 rims (of 500 sheets each) per day.

Case Making :
The capacity of the envisaged equipment is 300 cases per hour and required operating costs are in terms of glue (@ 125 kg of glue) or Rs.125 per hour for 300 cases. Manpower requirement is 1 operator and 1 helper who can operate the equipment which This equipment is critical for jobs related to hard bound covers, diary, school diaries and other stationery items. Currently it is a manual process job worked from Delhi which inducts a huge logistics and time cost. Advanced machine have the capacity to make 2000 cases in 8 hours of A4 size and does not require any additional drying time.

Thermal Lamination :
Thermal lamination does not require gum (unlike traditional lamination) during lamination and therefore no bubbles appear on the laminated surface improving quality. Operating speed is 1000 sheets/hour of the envisaged equipment. The range of such finishing / post-press equipment is beyond the resource capabilities of typical micro-sized cluster firms. Thermal Lamination is a process of heating the film and layering the object with film. Currently it is done through glue pasting using fevicol, and requires long time for drying. Brochures, book covers etc. may be laminated using this technique.
In view of the above, there is adequate scope for enhancing enterprise's productivity, quality of finished products and. thereby improving the profitability. The envisaged CFC is in line with the cluster vision and aims at providing indigenous design capabilities, upgrading manpower skills and improving upper-component and finished quality.
